Welcome to Bull Creek Primary School - Striving for Excellence in Partnership with Our Community
At Bull Creek Primary School we aim to ensure our students and parents feel welcome and have a strong sense of identification with the school. We value the contribution of our students and the involvement of parents in our school.
Bull Creek is a residential suburb established in the early 1970's with the school being opened in 1975. The school population is multicultural, although its background is predominantly Australian/European. Respect for other cultures and respect for all school community members is an important part of the values and beliefs held at Bull Creek Primary School.
Parents have high expectations for their children, both academically and socially. The support parents give through P&C, School Council and individually, reflect the value placed on education. The commitment of parents to the school complements the commitment of staff and leads to high level academic and social outcomes for students.
The school prides itself on looking to the future and the community has contributed significantly to the resources and facilities. Community support and a commitment by staff to the Department of Education's Classroom's First strategy ensures a positive and progressive school climate.
OUR VISION
At Bull Creek Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that all of our students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve their individual potential and to establish the foundations of lifelong learning in order that they can contribute positively to society. Outlined below are the principles underpinning the delivery of the curriculum at Bull Creek Primary School. Our teachers believe all students are capable of achieving successful learning outcomes.
We are committed to developing high standards of academic achievement, particularly in literacy and numeracy.
- We provide appropriate programs for each child’s phase of development to ensure that their learning is optimised.
- We encourage each person to achieve their personal best in all undertakings and to acknowledge, respect and celebrate the efforts of others.
- We are committed to developing positive and collaborative relationships between children, parents and staff based on care, mutual respect and open communication.
- We recognise and value each person’s uniqueness and encourage their individuality.
- We appreciate and respect cultural and religious difference and are committed to developing attitudes which support harmony in our multicultural society.
- We encourage each child to actively participate in decisions about their own learning and the way in which our school community works together.
- We see ourselves as a community of learners and plan for the broad and continuous learning of both children and adults.
- We encourage each person to develop critical thinking, creative imagination and interpersonal skills across the different domains.
- We foster reflective and critical thinking in order to develop in each child self reliance and personal discipline in their learning.
- We offer a safe environment where each person has fair access to the available resources.
The principles of the Curriculum Framework and the principles of teaching, learning and assessment are at the core of guiding the curriculum and pedagogy of the school. Staff are encouraged to self-reflect on their own performance and that of the school to ensure that our approaches are consistent with these principles. Bull Creek is recognised as a school which is innovative and progressive in its curriculum delivery.
We focus on providing inclusive teaching practices and support structures that address the diverse social, educational and emotional needs of our students and their families. This includes programmes for Students at Educational Risk, Pastoral Care Programmes, proactive approaches to Managing Student Behaviour, the promotion of student leadership roles across the school and encouraging cultural and sporting interests amongst our students.
